Join Gallery owner, Charlene Newsom and artist Britt Bates, for a night of fine art, stimulating conversation and drinks! Britt Bates is a Raleigh-born, Charleston-based, fifth generation artist. She seeks to explore the depth of relationships and the intricacy of family through her paintings. Her style is characterized by drippy washes and descriptive lines in earthy colors. Influenced by the work of William Scott and Hyunmee Lee, Bates chooses to use a limited color palette as she continues to discover the range of emotions within the shapes in her work.
Charles and Seth Marksberry, though father and son, have each developed a strong and unique artist’s voice. Charles is influenced by prominent artists such as Richard Diebenkorn, Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell. Seth, on the other hand, is inspired less by other artists, and rather, by his cognitive senses. His works have a raw, natural quality, for which they have been described as visual haikus.
Cost: Free, this is a for profit gallery.
