This 4th of July, a Raleigh tradition continues! From 11-3, the State Capitol is hosting a free, fun-filled family event that offers musical performances, carriage rides, and several hands-on activities for children to enjoy! Join us for quill writing, pie the redcoat, or dress up like a Revolutionary era citizen! Kona Ice and Split Wieners food trucks will also be on hand for your enjoyment!
An outdoor naturalization ceremony for new citizens will take place at noon on the Capitol’s south grounds. After the ceremony, the traditional “Salute to Independence” will feature a reading of Thomas Jefferson's most noble achievement, “The Declaration of Independence.” Visitors will also have the chance to listen to patriotic tunes performed by the Raleigh Concert Band.
