An Early Look at the 2017 State of Downtown Raleigh Report

 

RALEIGH, NC (April 24, 2017) – The information contained in the attached link, with the exception of pages 1-7, is embargoed until 10 am on Tuesday, April 25.

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is proud to release the attached “State of Downtown Raleigh 2017” tomorrow at its annual State of Downtown Raleigh event, which is from 8 am until 10 am at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The report highlights current market trends that impact downtown Raleigh’s rapid growth and future development, and provides a comprehensive market analysis of key downtown Raleigh data, demographics, and future projections, including:

  • $1.75 billion in recent, ongoing and upcoming development
  • 3,672 new residential units recently delivered, under construction or planned
  • $200 million in food and beverage sales in downtown Raleigh last year
  • Over 1,000 hotel rooms under construction or planned for downtown Raleigh
  • Over 300 acres of new and upcoming green space in downtown

To conclude the State of Downtown Raleigh event, a panel of experts and thought leaders in downtown, including Michael Cunningham, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Red Hat; Roberta Fox, Assistant Director of Design and Planning for the City of Raleigh; John Kane, CEO of Kane Realty; Van Nolintha, co-founder of Bida Manda and Brewery Bhavana; and Steve Young, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Duke Energy will analyze downtown’s growth from each of their own perspectives.
